Jared Martin - Drums

Before Jared first even struck a drum, he had a strong love and appreciation for music from a young age, having been bought up listening to jazz & blues and coming from a very music orientated family. Despite this claim, Jared and his older brother Grant were the first two people in their family to ever play a musical instrument!

Jared started playing the drums at the age of 12 and was involved in several bands at school where his love for music grew. Following this Jared spent several years whilst studying at university performing with various amateur dramatic companies and musical theatre schools in shows such as Grease, Little Shop of Horrors and Chicago. He also attended the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival to promote and play for an original musical titled Newland.

In the summer of 2015 Jared had the honour of playing at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane for a charity gala performance. In 2016/2017 Jared worked for Those Magic Beans on the productions of Cinderella and Aladdin respectively at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable. During this time he also depped for various function bands around London/Cambridge.

Since 2016 Jared works full time in education as an IT manager. His passion and love for music still burning strong, Jared formed FunXion 5 in 2017 and has performed various gigs all across the UK. Jared very much considers himself a groove-based drummer, with the philosophy of "less is more". His favourite drummers include Steve Jordan, Chris Layton & Art Blakey.
